baptism!

Hello everyone!

It has been an amazing week full of blessings

Update on Jahadah:She got baptized yesterday! It was a really cool
experience. A young man named Josh Conde baptized her. It was his
first baptism so he invited all his friends and family.
I am sorry I don't have a much time to email this week. We are having a really big barbecue at Lincoln Park to say goodbye to all the missionaries who are leaving our zone.
Update on Alex (person we skype): he has been in town for the past week, so he came to church with us and we have been meeting with him. We had a really good lesson where we resolved a lot of concerns but he had one that he was having trouble getting over. We asked him to pray about it that night and to really focus on what God was trying to tell him. The next day he sent us this text:
"After praying and thinking really well over it. I want to start living a holy life. I want to please my father in heaven. I want to follow Jesus's example. I want to be baptized guys, I want to be reborn." So amazing. It has been such a pleasure to even know him. He decided he is going to be baptized in August when he officially moves here. We will be skypeing him in the meantime.

Like I said I don't have much time but that is the really big stuff. I'll fill in the holes next week!

Hello everyone!

Seriously crazy week! It's moving season here in Jersey City. We
helped four people move in this week! A lot of work but we met a lot
of really cool people.

Update on Jahadah: She is getting baptized on Sunday! We brought up
the possibility of goi on a mission because she turns 19 next month
and she took it and ran with it. She said "it would be such a cool
opportunity to help others the way you have helped me." She is so
awesome and I am just so happy that I had the opportunity to meet her.
She is going to be going out with the sister missionaries in our area
so that she can see what it is like!

Update on Alex: Alex is the guy we have been teaching over Skype in
Mexico. He made a random visit to Jersey city and decided to come to
church with us, he really liked it and we will be continuing to talk
to him while he is here!

We met this guy named Jamel and talked to him about the Book of Mormon
and he was really interested, so we set a time to come back. When we
came back he told us that he couldn't meet because he was moving, we
offered to help him move, he said to come back the next day. We spent
most of the next day helping him move. After we helped him move he
asked us to say a prayer over the house, it was a super cool
experience! The next day we came back and had a lesson with him, At
the end he expressed his appreciation for all that we did and that he
has loved the feeling we bring. He is a very sweet and humble man, I
am so grateful that I have had the chance to get to know him.

I love you all and I appreciate all the prayers and the words of
encouragement! If you ever get the chance feel free to send me a quick
email! I love hearing about everyone back home!

Love,

Last post in May

Hello everyone!

It has been a crazy week!

So I had been in a 2 week exchange leading out the area, but a zone
leader tore his ACL in Irvington so my actual companion got emergency
transferred to Irvington. So now he is there as a Zone Leader, that
made it so that the Elder I am with became my companion until the next
transfers (or maybe longer). I miss my companion, but I am having
loads of fun with my new one. We are putting in WORK!

I don't think I have told you about Jahadah. We have a lot of people
we teach, all different ages and ethnic backgrounds, I will continue
to tell you about them over time so that it isn't just a flood of
words and stories. Anyways, Jahadah is so solid, she is a senior in
high school. She is a really good girl who just wants to follow God.
We have been through most of the lessons and we are excited for the
12th (her baptismal date).

Update on Arcides: we are taking him on team ups, he is awesome and
will be made a priest soon!

In studying the scriptures on my mission I have gained a really strong
testimony of their importance. A scripture that I came across this
week is 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it reads:

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The scriptures are there to help us. I promise you that as you open
the bible or the Book of Mormon, read what it says, and apply it to
your life, you will make your life be better. You will be
"perfected."15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy
scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through
faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all
good works.15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy
scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through
faith which is in Christ Jesus.
